My name is Sheryl Jimerson and I am the founder and managing member of Jimerson Advisory Group (Jimerson Tax Consulting Services LLC and Jimerson Tax and Accounting LLC). After years of hearing from friends and colleagues that they needed a good CPA (and a responsive CPA) to help them with making sure that they were doing things right and not paying too much in taxes, my company was born. As a business owner myself, I know it is not easy to keep up with all the many aspects that come with business ownership. My role is to work as your advisor to determine the best solutions for your unique needs while providing excellent client service. I believe in meeting face-to-face (physically or virtually) and cultivating a partnership with the goal of achieving each client’s definition of success.
Unlike your average accountant, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance along with a Master of Business Administration degree. This background uniquely positions me to think outside the box to provide comprehensive, invaluable advisory services to selected clients. My clients are able to focus on the technical aspects of their businesses as I partner with them to grow their businesses.
I am a Texas-licensed Certified Public Accountant, previously certified in the State of Delaware. Additionally, I am certified to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent (EA). EAs are federally certified tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. In summary, I am a self-proclaimed tax geek who loves researching strategies to save taxes for her clients!
In addition to working in tax management for several large companies in the Houston area, I also taught tax and accounting courses at the college level for several years. I had the distinct honor of receiving the TXCPA Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in 2018.
As a board member and the Secretary of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA) Houston chapter, I chair the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and serve on the CPAs Helping Schools Committee and CFO/Controllers Conference Committee.
As a Leadership Council member of the TXCPA State chapter, I chair the Advanced Healthcare Conference Committee and serve on the Relations with the IRS Committee. I am also a member of the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants which supports the specialized needs of healthcare practices and physicians.
In my free time, I enjoy leisure activities with my family and friends, reading fiction books, traveling to really cold or really hot places, and supporting my alma mater (University of Houston – Go Coogs!) and local nonprofits dedicated to the welfare of underserved children.
